In God we trust. All others must bring data.
That’s what W. Edwards Deming told the world’s biggest companies. I’d revise it slightly, and I’ve staked 16 years of my life on the revision.
On December 6, 2009, I stopped trusting the labels, the ads, and the “miracle” promises. I went 100% raw, plant-based. No cooking, no processing, no compromise.
People thought I’d last a month.
Here’s what I’ve learned since: Nature doesn’t need a marketing budget. An apple has never run a clinical trial to convince you it’s good for you. A handful of greens has never bought a Super Bowl ad. They just… work. Quietly. Consistently. The way they have for millions of years.
Nature has 3.8 billion years of R&D behind it, the longest-running, most rigorously tested experiment in existence. I trust that.
But everything else?
The “superfood” powder with a celebrity’s face on it, bring data. The pill that promises to undo a decade of bad habits, bring data. The processed snack labeled “natural” in a font that costs more than the ingredients, bring data. The diet that changes its mind every 18 months, bring data.
We’ve flipped it backwards. We extend blind faith to factories and demand proof from a tomato.
I did the opposite. I trusted what grows. And I asked everything else to earn my trust with evidence, not packaging.
The results showed up in my own body. More energy. Clearer thinking. Healing I didn’t think was possible. Not because I found a shortcut, because I stopped looking for one.
This is the whole idea behind my book and my work: “If it’s not made by Mother Nature, it’s not going on my plate.”
That’s not anti-science. It’s the opposite. It’s holding everything OTHER than nature to the standard of proof it actually deserves.
So here’s my challenge to you this week: Pick one thing you eat on autopilot. Flip it over. Read what’s actually in it.
Then ask the question we should’ve been asking all along:
Where’s the data?
Nature already passed the test.
🌱 In NATURE we TRUST. The rest? Bring Data.
